Snooki gets Snooked

On the last episode of the Jersey Shore, Snooki, a short tan guidette, gets punched by one of the men at the bar. This scene was not aired on television because there was controversy over how it displays abuse to women. I was pissed that this scene wasn't aired. It makes no sense because several talk shows replayed the scene over and over again but yet they are still not allowed to put it on television? Whatever, MTV played it several times on there previews anyway so people were able to see it. I have a DVR so I rewinded/slow-mowed that scene practically ten times! At first I was shocked and could not unglue my eyes from the television. After replaying it several times I thought it was pretty hilarious, but still bad. A guy should never hit a women under any circumstances. I think it's safe to say that the man who hit Snooki is one of the most hated men right now next to Kanye West, Spencer Pratt, and John Gosselin.

Cribs Manshions

During the last couple of years, most middle class Americans have been forced to cut back on their spending because of the nation's recession. Although, we are forced to truncate our spending celebrities have the least bit of sense on how much they are splurging. On my Saturday afternoon, while watching Cribs on MTV, a show displaying celebrities' mansions, I was astonished at the extravagant amount of money these celebrities are spending. For example, in the episode displaying Soulja Boy's crib, he claimed that his Gucci bed cost him $300,000! The young rapper's bed was covered from head to toe with Gucci pillows, Gucci sheets, and a Gucci comforter. I was astounded at the price that Soulja Boy paid for a bed. A bed is something you sleep on it shouldn't cost you more than $10,000 (that's even an excessive amount!). It aggravates me that celebrities like Soulja Boy splurge on such nonsense while there are those who are homeless and sick without anyone to help them. Instead of buying nonsensical items celebrities should help out others including people in need. After all we are the ones who pay to go see their concerts, movies, and sports games. Once and a while they should think about giving back, instead of spending there money on lavish items they don't necessarily need.

Keeping up with the Krazies

Last Sunday, Keeping up with the Kardashions returned on the E! network. As expected the show was full of drama. There were numourous arguements and downfalls. All in all I feel as though this episode has confirmed to me that this show is so fake. I used to watch it when it first started a couple of years ago. Compared to how it was then, a viewer can tell what scenes are set up/scripted. One of the past episodes Khloe Kardashion, one of the characters, hacks into her boyfriends phone and finds voicemails from various women. She throws a fit and immediately breaks up with him. Later on after the show was aired Khloe admitted that the scene was set up; they needed something juicy to show for the season finale so they scripted her breaking up with her boyfriend. In reality, the two had split two weeks ago prior to the shooting of the episode.

Many "reality" shows are not really reality. The producers might as well call it a "scripted show with real people". Viewers think that the cameras are following their favorite realitystars daily, but there not. Each realitystar actually has a schedule for the time they will be filmed during the week, like a job. Additionally, the producers have to set up the scene hours before it takes place to make sure the lighting is right. As well, the producers will tell the costars to repeat their lines if there not loud or clear enough, or they will force them to reanact a scene from a previous date for the cameras. I have become very disappointed at the reality shows today of how fake they have become.

Tough Love

One of VH1's reality shows, Tough Love 2, has grabbed audiences from varies ages across the country. The show is about Steve, a matchmaker, who puts several women into boot camp to find them love. During the process the women find themselves having to overcome varies challenges to ultimately have the ability to find love. Although I enjoy watching the show I question whether true love is even possible. They say that there is someone in the world who is a perfect match for you. I feel as though the true love in tales like Romeo and Juliet is far fetched. I think it is highly impossible and rather ignorant to believe that you will ever find someone who is perfectly compatible to you. There are over six billion people in the world. For all you know your perfect match could live on the other side of the world and can be thirty years older than you. Furthermore the reality of never finding the perfect person makes me question: are we destined to settle for less for our whole lives? Our society pressures women to get married between our mid twenties and mid thirties. What happens if you settle for less and have children, but later on in your future you find your perfect match. Are you supposed to just leave everything you've built with your original partner or continue to live a safe life and settle for less? Love is confusing and defined differently by each person. The real question is will we ever obtain true love?

Santa the Moneymaker

During the holiday season ABC Family contributes to the holiday spirit by presenting the 25 Days of Christmas. In this segment ABC Family shows Christmas cartoons and movies throughout the month of December. While watching one of the many cartoons involving Santa I thought about the meaning of Christmas. On Christmas Day Christians, like myself, are supposed to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It has brought me to question: Why are the stations showing more movies surrounding Santa than the birth of Jesus? Although Jesus Christ is the original celebration of Christmas, the holiday has become the biggest money making holiday of the year.

One of the most well known fictional characters around the globe, Santa, has made businesses consume an enormous amount of profit. Taking pictures with Santa, watching Broadways involving Santa, and movies of Santa have profited many businesses. While attending these shows and buying extravagant gifts people are not finding the time to think about the the true meaning of Christmas. This selfishness has brought me to think that today's society is solely focused on materialism. People are too consumed in buying multiple gifts and celebrating Santa than to celebrate Jesus Christ. I think it is awful that so many Christians let these materialistic items overshadow one of the most important people in their religion. This also leads me to believe that people are losing there way of faith.

A study reported on CNN has proved that Americans have become less religious than they were twenty years ago. More Americans that are Christians have begun to follow their life by these words: "I don't want to be told what to do with my life". People are slowly becoming more atheist and losing their path with God. It is horrible that the materialism part of Christmas has brought Americans to lose the meaning of Christmas - which leads them to lose path on their religion. Christians should celebrate Christmas for Jesus Christ's birth rather than celebrating the icon of Santa and the gifts that come along with it.

Not so Pregnant

Glee, Fox's newest series, has recently became a hit across the country. The show follows Will, an optimistic teacher, whose goal is to bring talented individuals together to create the best Glee group. The group Glee consists of twelve high school students who have vocal and dance skills. Despite the odds, the twelve students are able to come together and express their talent through the help of Will.

During the season, Will's wife becomes fearful that their marriage may not last. There differences and separation through Glee has made his wife become worried enough to have a hysterical pregnancy. Although the wife is not pregnant, she believes she is and tells Will the news. After, visiting the doctor's office Will's wife realizes she is not pregnant, but is not willing to let go of the fact. In spite of her urge to keep Will by her side, she fakes her pregnancy for several months. With her sister, they plan to fake the pregnancy the whole way and adopt a child when the due date comes. Even though Will's wife is naive enough to believe her plan will work Will is not as stupid as she thinks. While rummaging through a dresser, Will find's one of the padded baby bumps his wife would wear under her shirt. When Will confronts his wife he is full of anger and rage. She has no choice, but to tell him the truth and in the process ruins her marriage.

While watching the episodes where the wife tried to fake the pregnancy I was shocked by her behavior. I asked myself: how could anyone fake a pregnancy? Apparently, she was unable to fake her pregnancy for long without getting caught. I still don't understand how the husband didn't notice she was lying at all. The wife's attempt to keep Will demonstrates at what great lengths people go to keep the people closest to them. I don't see why people like to beat around the bush instead of just telling someone straight up what is bothering them. Beating around the bush and acting hysterical just causes further problems. All in all, I think it was crazy the wife tried to fake a pregnancy and that she couldn't tell her husband what they real problem was.
