Tough Love

One of VH1's reality shows, Tough Love 2, has grabbed audiences from varies ages across the country. The show is about Steve, a matchmaker, who puts several women into boot camp to find them love. During the process the women find themselves having to overcome varies challenges to ultimately have the ability to find love. Although I enjoy watching the show I question whether true love is even possible. They say that there is someone in the world who is a perfect match for you. I feel as though the true love in tales like Romeo and Juliet is far fetched. I think it is highly impossible and rather ignorant to believe that you will ever find someone who is perfectly compatible to you. There are over six billion people in the world. For all you know your perfect match could live on the other side of the world and can be thirty years older than you. Furthermore the reality of never finding the perfect person makes me question: are we destined to settle for less for our whole lives? Our society pressures women to get married between our mid twenties and mid thirties. What happens if you settle for less and have children, but later on in your future you find your perfect match. Are you supposed to just leave everything you've built with your original partner or continue to live a safe life and settle for less? Love is confusing and defined differently by each person. The real question is will we ever obtain true love?
