The Real Bad Girls are Exposed

There are people in life who take out their anger through physical abuse, some even abuse their loved ones. On the most recent episode on the Tyra Banks Show, hosted by Tyra Banks, young women were interviewed for acting as a "bad girl". Each lady had one thing in common: they all beat their mothers. One of the girls on the show beat her mother so badly that her mother was forced to go to the hospital and eventually gave up her daughter to foster care.

I was completely shocked that girls physically abuse their mothers. As well, I was really appalled that the girls had such disrespect for their mothers. I know I couldn't get away with something like that without a SERIOUS consequence. Obviously, these ladies have problems in their pasts which they need to confront before they cause more physical harm.

Is the Paparazzi going to far?

The celebrity craze has spiked in the last couple of years. No longer can a person go on the internet, watch television, or even enter a supermarket without seeing the latest Hollywood scandal. Now a days there are many shows on television that solely focus on celebrities. Some of these shows include TMZ, Access Hollywood, and E!. On the show TMZ, Paparazzi record celebrities everyday lives. They have gone so far that they record celebrities doing the most boring things like walking to a store or getting out of their car.

I honestly could care less about what celebrities do everyday of their lives. It doesn't affect my day if Robert Pattinson drives to the nearest 711 because hes run out of milk. I really don't understand why the Paparazzi stalk celebrities outside of their work lives. It only causes havoc and self destruction to the "beloved" celebrities. Take Britney Spears for example; during her rocky relationship with Kevin Federline the Paparazzi would stalk her day and night. As a result of all the pressure and constant jabbering from the Paparazzi Britney self destructed and went on a downward spiral. Overall, I think the Paparazzi should stop recording every minute of celebrities lives because one, half the public doesn't care and two, they are invading into other people's lives.

Jessica Simpson takes a step out of her comfort zone

Jessica Simpson’s The Price of Beauty, a new reality show, aired today on VH1. The last reality show that I watched starring Jessica Simpson was The Newly Wed’s. Although then she was not portrayed as the brightest tool in the tool box I gave her the benefit of the doubt that it was six years later and tuned in at 10:00pm. The show is unique; it revolves around Jessica and her friends traveling around the world to explore how different cultures define beauty. In some cultures women take great lengths in order to achieve their view of beauty.

Simpson and her friends explore Northern Thailand on the first episode where the longer the neck the more beautiful a woman appears. To achieve this beauty, Jessica and her friends observe that the women of Thailand wear 20 pound rings around their necks in order to elongate them! Although the weighing rings crush the women’s clavicles, it is the price the pay to look beautiful.

After watching this it really amazed me how certain cultures define beauty and how far the women go to obtain it. If every culture has a different view of beauty then can one truly define what beauty is? I think that instead of filling into a culture’s view of beauty that beauty is only found in those who don’t seek to find it, but already see it in themselves. To me beauty is confidence in oneself and should not be defined to look or act a certain way. I believe standing out confidently as an individual is the true form of beauty instead of conforming to society’s view.

A Day without Electricity

Yesterday morning, I woke up to no power. I was shocked there was no power; I didn’t think that the high wind the weather man predicted would be that bad. While getting ready to go to my SAT class, the lack of electricity stopped me from doing my usual routines. I couldn’t watch TV, straighten my hair, or even turn on my light. I thought that the power only went out in my neighborhood, but I was wrong. Apparently, the power went out throughout parts of Manalapan and Freehold. Outside the weather was absolutely destructive. The wind was so strong it shut down the power of street lights and even the mall. It was complete chaos, there was lots of traffic and accidents.

Even though the shortage of power only lasted a day it got me to really think about how our society depends on electricity. Just one day without electricity caused major chaos: traffic, accidents, and many businesses shutting down for the day. As well, many people didn’t know what to do with themselves once their computers and cell phones¬¬ went out of battery. If one day there was no longer power on earth the people of our society will cause complete chaos and would not be able to function.

The Bad Girls are blinded by the glitz and glamour

Oxygen’s most entertaining reality television show, Bad Girls Club season 4, is coming to a close. While anticipating for the last episode to air I reminisced about the events that occurred during the season. Bad Girls Club is a show that consists of “bad girls” from different parts of the country; the girls come together under one roof in LA. The cast member that stood out from the rest this season was Natalie Nunn, a native of Los Angeles who is driven by her hunger for money. Repeatedly, Natalie makes her point to the other girls on the show that money is the most important thing in life and that it buys happiness. A dispute later occurred over the statement made.

One of the season’s most unforgettable moments was the argument between Natalie and Portia, another cast mate. The two had tension between them from the beginning and it only aroused when Portia told Natalie that she was foolish to believe money is the key to happiness. Both were headstrong over their opinions; ultimately, leading to a physical altercation and Portia to be sent home.

Although, the argument was entertaining to watch it presented an important message behind the drama, whether money buys happiness. I don’t believe money buys a person happiness; only temporary satisfaction. For instance cruising on a yacht is fun while everything is new and exciting, but in the end a yacht cannot talk or love a person. It is sad that most of society is blinded by the idea that money is the key to living life. Without the one’s that make it special life itself is meaningless.

ABC Disappoints

Today I was flipping through channels to see what was on TV starting from channel two; it only took me four my clicks to find out that ABC was gone. Apparently, ABC made a deal requesting a larger income from the cablevision network; cablevision refused the request causing ABC to pull their network out. Cablevision already pays ABC an extravagant amount of money and on top of that ABC wanted millions of more dollars. If cablevision were to pay ABC money requested it would mean all the customers would have to pay for more money.
I think it’s ridiculous that ABC pulled out their network from cablevision. These networks already make millions of dollars I don’t understand why they need more. Especially that were in a recession it’s absurd that these industries are still trying to soak up every bit of money from the consumers. The whole situation is annoying, in the end ABC is really hurting themselves because there losing lots of ratings, lots of money.
